PSE (Product Safety of Electrical appliances & Materials) certification (known as "fitness inspection" in Japan) is a mandatory market access system for Electrical appliances in Japan and an important part of the Safety law of Electrical appliances in Japan. At present, the Japanese government according to the provisions of Japan's electrical supplies safety law, electrical supplies are divided into "specific electrical supplies" and "non-specific electrical supplies", among which "specific electrical supplies" include 115 kinds of products; "Non-specific electrical" includes 339 products. PSE includes EMC and security requirements.

Products in the "specific electrical supplies" catalog must be certified by a third party authorized by Japan's ministry of economy, trade and industry to enter the Japanese market. They must be certified as qualified and have a diamond PSE mark on the label.

Products belonging to the catalogue of "non-specific electrical supplies", entering the Japanese market, must pass the self-test to confirm that they meet the technical standards of Japanese electrical supplies, or entrust a third party certification body to carry out the test, obtain the certificate of conformity, and have the circular PSE mark on the label.
